.PR is Puerto Rico’s country-code top-level domain. For local businesses, a short, professional domain signals a commitment to customers on the island and makes the brand easier to remember.
Puerto Rico means “Rich Port” in Spanish. Officially the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico (Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico), historically also called Porto Rico, it is an unincorporated territory of the United States in the northeastern Caribbean, around 1,000 miles (1,600 km) southeast of Miami, Florida.
Build a recognizable online home for shops, service providers and companies working with Puerto Rican customers.
Give tourism, hospitality and community projects an address connected to the destination they represent.
Offer direct .PR registrations alongside .COM.PR, .BIZ.PR and six other extensions from one GlobalR account.
.COM.PR and .BIZ.PR are business-oriented options. The full supported range and its individual prices are listed above, including .INFO.PR, .ISLA.PR, .NAME.PR, .NET.PR, .ORG.PR and .PRO.PR.
Collect complete information before placing the order so payment and registration can move forward without avoidable delays.
Use Latin letters A–Z, digits 0–9 and hyphens. Uppercase and lowercase versions of the same name are treated identically.
A domain label cannot begin or end with a hyphen. The length limit applies to the name before the selected extension.
Certain names are reserved and require special registration conditions. Consult the registry’s published reserved-name list and conditions before ordering.
.PR / GLOBALR
Registration is instant once payment is complete and GlobalR has all requested documents, including payment confirmation. Prepare these items before expecting activation.
If an application is incomplete, the registry may ask the registrar for the missing data. If it is not supplied within 7 working days, the registry may suspend the domain.
WHOIS / GDPR
If the owner does not want contact details shown publicly, contact GlobalR to request private WHOIS registration under the applicable privacy and GDPR arrangements. Accurate registrant information is still required for the registration application.

The transfer uses an EPP authorization code and takes 7 working days under the process described below. The owner can manage the domain with the gaining registrar after completion.
The registrant requests the authorization code from the current registrar and provides it to the gaining registrar.
Both the losing registrar and the administrative contact must approve. A refusal from either party rejects the transfer.
At the end of the process, whether approved, refused or timed out, all three parties receive an email notification.
No response from the losing registrar within one week is treated as approval. No response from the administrative contact within that week means the transfer is refused.
The domain must be active and unlocked. Inactive names and domains being deleted or in redemption are not eligible.
A domain must have been registered for more than 60 days before a registrar transfer is allowed.
A request is refused if the domain was registered, transferred or refused a transfer less than two months earlier.
Gauss Research Laboratory, Inc., incorporated under Puerto Rican law, manages .PR. Based in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico, the registry began operating in 1989 under its founder, Dr. Oscar Moreno de Ayala.
A registry, also known as a network information center (NIC), maintains domain records, sets allocation policies and operates the zone file containing nameserver references. Registrars connect customers to that infrastructure.
GlobalR works directly with Afilias to provide .PR registry services. Use our domain registry gateway to offer Puerto Rico domains at competitive prices and save the time and resources needed for separate registrar approval, technical integration and testing.
Our experienced team helps with registration questions and domain operations. Create a GlobalR partner account and start offering .PR extensions to your customers.
