.ME is Montenegro’s country-code top-level domain. This Balkan country brings together rugged mountains, medieval villages and a narrow Adriatic coastline. It borders Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina to the north, Serbia to the northeast, Kosovo to the east and Albania to the south; the Adriatic Sea lies to the west.
Beyond its country identity, “me” carries meanings across English, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, Bulgarian and languages of the former Yugoslavia. That makes the extension a flexible choice for international branding.
A domain for an international search audience
Google treats .ME as a generic country-code domain for search purposes, rather than automatically tying it to Montenegro. Your content, language and audience signals still determine how your site reaches customers.
What you need to register .ME
Name format
For standard orders here, choose 2–63 characters before .ME: Latin letters, digits 0–9 and hyphens. A hyphen cannot be the first or last character. Uppercase and lowercase identify the same name.
Reserved and premium names
Some names are reserved or subject to special conditions. Very short and premium names may follow a separate registry offering. Check availability and the applicable price before ordering.
Activation
Standard registration is instant after payment and complete application data. If verification or payment confirmation is requested, provide it before activation. No routine country-specific documentation is required.
Prepare complete customer information
Accurate registrant data is required even when public WHOIS privacy is requested.
Nameservers are not needed to reserve a name, but at least two valid nameservers are needed for the domain to resolve. Default servers can be used.

If the application is incomplete, the registry may request missing information through the registrar. Under the GlobalR application procedure, failure to provide it within 7 working days may result in domain suspension.
WHOIS / PRIVACY
Keep public contact details private
Ask for private WHOIS registration if the owner does not want contact information published. Privacy does not remove the obligation to provide accurate registrant details. For a special request, contact info@globalr.com.

Transfer .ME using the EPP authorization code from the current registrar. Review the domain status and approval requirements before placing the €16.10 order.
Get the EPP code
The registrant requests the authorization code from the losing registrar and supplies it to GlobalR.
Submit and approve
Follow the requested authorization steps. In the GlobalR approval workflow, both the losing registrar and administrative contact must approve; either refusal stops the request.
Complete the move
Allow up to 7 working days under the GlobalR workflow. Once completed, management moves to the gaining registrar and the parties receive a notification.
Approval response window
For the GlobalR one-week approval procedure, silence from the losing registrar is treated as approval; silence from the administrative contact causes refusal. Approval, refusal or timeout ends the process and all three parties are notified.
Status and waiting periods
The domain must be active and unlocked, outside deletion or redemption. The GlobalR workflow requires more than 60 days since registration and a two-month interval after a transfer or refused transfer. Current registry policy lists a 5-day post-creation restriction; confirm the applicable registrar locks before ordering.
The registry and registrar procedures can differ. Follow the current transfer instructions and status shown in your account; a successful registry transfer adds one year to the domain term.

Yes. Individuals and companies worldwide can apply. Standard second-level .ME registration does not require Montenegro residency or routine country-specific documents.
How much does .ME cost?
Standard registration and renewal are €16.10 per year, transfer is €16.10 and restore is €46.00 per operation. Premium names may have different prices.
When will the domain be active?
Standard registration is instant after payment and submission of complete application data, subject to availability and any requested verification.
Can I use .ME for a business?
Yes. The extension works for personal websites, portfolios, startups, products and customer-focused campaigns.
Can my customers hide their contact details?
Request private WHOIS registration through GlobalR. For special privacy requests, write to info@globalr.com; accurate underlying registration data remains required.
Do I need my own registry accreditation?
You can offer .ME through GlobalR’s gateway and partner account. Direct registry accreditation is a separate process.
