.LK is a ccTLD for Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka, officially the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, is an island country in South Asia, located in the Indian Ocean to the southwest of the Bay of Bengal and to the southeast of the Arabian Sea.

Mandatory Requirements for .LK Domain Names

• The Domain Name may only contain numbers (0-9), dashes and Latin letters, and its combination,
• The Domain Name with capital and lowercase letters are not differentiated between;
• The Domain Name shall not start and end with a dash;
• The minimum number of symbols for Domain Name is 4 (four) and maximum - 63 (sixty-three).
• Other special characters, spaces or stressed vowels (such as à, é, ò, í) are not permitted.

.LK Domain activation

The domain name can be activated when the payment is complete and we have all the requested documents (including the payment confirmation). .lk domain names are available for 1-10 year(s). The domain registration time frame for .lk during general availability is 2 weeks.. 

Only legal entities are allowed to register a .lk domain.

Notice: If the Registrar or Registrant submits incomplete information, Registry reserves its right to request from the Registrar to submit respective data. If the requested data is not provided the Registry is authorized to suspend functioning of the Domain Name.

Required: Company registration number, any country. Administrative contact must provide ID/passport number. The domain name should be related to the company/brand name. Make sure the registrant/company name is correct as changes are not allowed to Registrant name.

Private Whois Registration

No. At present, the .lk domain zone does not provide means to hide the information of the domain owner. All information (name, address, email, etc.) will be displayed in WHOIS.

Domain Transfer from registrar to registrar

Domain Renewal

If the Registrant via the intermediation does not renew the domain name, it will be Suspended during the 30 (thirty) days period from the expiry date of the domain name registration. After the lapse of the 30 (thirty) days period, the Registry is obliged to cancel domain name registration and delete data related to the domain name from the Domain Name Register. The domain will become available for everyone.
