.FI ccTLD

.FI is the ccTLD of Finland.

It is located in Northern Europe along the Baltic Sea, the Gulf of Bothnia and the Gulf of Finland. It shares borders with Norway, Sweden and Russia. Finland has a population of 5.429.100, which makes it the 27th most populous country in Europe. Its official languages are Finnish and Swedish.

Mandatory Requirements for .FI Domain Names

• The Domain Name may only contain numbers (0-9), dashes and Latin letters, and its combination,
• The Domain Name shall not start and end with a dash;
• The minimum number of symbols for Domain Name is 3 (three) and maximum- 63 (sixty-three).
• The Domain Name must use the Latin character set and may contain letters (a-z), numbers (0-9) and hyphen (-) or a combination of these;
• Other special characters, spaces or stressed vowels (such as à, é, ò, í) are not permitted.

.FI Domain activation

The domain name can be activated when the payment is complete and we have all the requested documents (including the payment confirmation). The .fi domains registration period1-5 year(s) registration are acceptable at a time. The domain registration time frame for .fi during general availability is 3 Days.

Certain domains are reserved and can only be registered as Domain Names under special conditions.

Notice: Domain should be based on a business name, auxiliary business name or word mark that you have registered yourself. Protected names or trademarks owned by another party prevent the registration of an identical or similar domain name

If the Registrar or Registrant submits incomplete information, Registry reserves its right to request from the Registrar to submit respective data. If the requested data is not provided within 7 (seven) working days, the Registry is authorized to suspend functioning of the Domain Name.

Private Whois Registration

No. At present, the .fi domain zone does not provide means to hide the information of the domain owner. All information (name, address, email, etc.) will be displayed in WHOIS.

Domain Transfer from registrar to registrar

The transfer process performs based on EPP code. The registrant should request the code from the losing registrar and provide the gaining one.

The transfer code is valid for 7 days only. So, if it expires it needs to be generated again. The transfer process completed in 7 working days. Only after that, the domain can be managed by the owner.

Domain Renewal

If the Registrant via the intermediation does not renew the domain name, it will be Suspended during the 30 (thirty) days period from the expiry date of the domain name registration. After the lapse of the 30 (thirty) days period, the Registry is obliged to cancel domain name registration and delete data related to the domain name from the Domain Name Register. The domain will become available for everyone.
