.NU ccTLD

.NU is the ccTLD of Niue.

Niue is a small island nation in the South Pacific Ocean. It’s known for its limestone cliffs and coral-reef dive sites.Niue is a tiny island nation located around 2,400 kilometres northeast of New Zealand.

The .nu extension is the 24th most populous country in Oceania.
The .nu ccTLD has been around since 1997.

Mandatory Requirements for .NU Domain Names

• The Domain Name may only contain numbers (0-9), dashes and Latin letters, and its combination,
• The Domain Name with capital and lowercase letters are not differentiated between;
• The Domain Name shall not start and end with a dash;
• The minimum number of symbols for Domain Name is 3 (three) and maximum - 63 (sixty-three).
• Other special characters, spaces or stressed vowels (such as à, é, ò, í) are not permitted.

.NU Domain activation

The domain name can be activated when the payment is complete and we have all the requested documents (including the payment confirmation). The domain registration time frame for .nu during general availability is Instant. .nu domain names are available for 1-10 years.

The .nu domain can be registered by companies and individuals.

Certain domains are reserved by the registry and can only be registered as Domain Names under special conditions.

Notice: If the Registrar or Registrant submits incomplete information, Registry reserves its right to request from the Registrar to submit respective data. If the requested data is not provided, the Registry is authorized to suspend the functioning of the Domain Name.

For companies need TAX ID or VAT ID, city and country of registration.

For individuals Passport number or valid government ID number and city and country of registration required.

Private Whois Registration

At present, the .nu domain zone does not provide means to hide the information of the domain owner. All information (name, address, email, etc.) will be displayed in WHOIS.

Domain Transfer from registrar to registrar

To initiate the transfer of a .nu domain name you need to provide an authorization code (AuthID). You can get it from your current registrar. Also, please ensure that no protection against transfer is activated at the current registrar.

Domain Renewal

If the Registrant via the intermediation does not renew the domain name, it will be Suspended during the 30 (thirty) days period from the expiry date of the domain name registration. After the lapse of the 30 (thirty) days period, the Registry is obliged to cancel domain name registration and delete data related to the domain name from the Domain Name Register. The domain will become available for everyone.
